"It only seems to us that the wonderful life is somewhere far away. It seems to us that the best people hid from us for thousands of kilometers. In fact, all the best for us is always with us and around us. We look into the distance in search of the best, because it is unpleasant for us to see the fruits of our actions around us!" As I sat barefoot in the grass today I thought about how in our culture here in the west it has been made
hard and rare for people to slow down and actually see the beautiful Earth for what she is. Most people are on a never ending cycle of earning money just to put food on the table and pay their rent. They do not have tome to do anything else. They put pressure on each-other to live life in the same way as well. We must all have the latest I-Phone and the latest car and we will waist our whole life slaving for these silly trinkets. Especially here in North America I get some sense of anxiety and find it hard to relax because there's so much push to have a job, upkeep the house, the kids, the car and all the mundane heavy responsibilities that an adult carries in this western system . I have to remind myself that there is no greater responsibility in this time then to stop and sit in the warm sun and think about how amazing life itself is. Its so important because so many people do not do it anymore. Their heads are buried in their phones. No one sees the little epic ant battles in the grass or the perfect little bird egg in a hidden nest. No one stops to look at the sky at night and speak to the stars. I do. And sometimes I feel like such an alien when I go to the city and try to interact with everyone. Does anyone else experience the same thing?
